Kyphoplasty: Re-Expanding Vertebrae After Osteoporotic Collapse
The collapse of a thoracic vertebra due to osteoporosis can be treated without open surgery.  The Kyphx Xpander system shown here involves a balloon passed inside a needle through the skin. Once the balloon is inflated, it can be filled with a glue that supports the vertebra once it hardens.
